In the lead-up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, schools across the Sea to Sky School District will honour this important day in different ways. Some will hold ceremonies, while others will engage in practices that ground us in reconciliation, connect us to the land, and support learning through language, culture, and lived experience.

We encourage our school communities to take time for reflection and learning during this period of reconciliation. We will also be sharing photos from the events taking place throughout the district. Visit the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation to learn more.

We are closely monitoring the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) reported by Environment Canada, as conditions in our region may fluctuate in the coming days. We will be following the AQHI-recommended actions based on the level of air quality, and each school will continue to respond to changing conditions throughout the day to support the health and safety of students and staff. Please note, our HVAC systems are running continuously. All schools' air handling systems (HVAC) use MERV-13 filters, which are effective in capturing smoke particulates.
